A network for builders.
Where people who
build, ship & share.
Alpha is the calm network for founders, makers, and the endlessly curious — show what you're working on, trade hard-won lessons, and find your people. No politics. No noise. Just builders.
Free to join. Read thecommunity guidelinesfirst — they're short, and we mean them.
What is Alpha?
Somewhere along the way, social networks stopped being places where people make things together and became places where they perform at each other. Alpha goes back to the original promise: a profile, a thread, a reply, a group of people who care about the same craft — pointed at building instead of arguing.
It looks plain on purpose. White background, dark background, clear type, fast screens. Every feature earns its place by helping someone learn something, ship something, or meet someone worth knowing. If it doesn't do one of those three things, it didn't make the cut.
01
Built for people who build
Founders shipping products. Engineers deep in side projects at 2am. Designers crafting in public. Students learning out loud. And anyone who ever looked at something and thought — I want to build one of those. You don't need a company or an audience here. You need curiosity and something you're making.
02
Show your work
Threads are where progress lives. Post what you shipped this week, the version that broke at 2am, the lesson you paid for twice, the launch numbers nobody else would admit. On most networks, real work drowns under outrage. Here it is the point.
03
Knowledge that compounds
Ask a question, get an answer from someone who has actually done it. Share a hard-won insight once and it keeps teaching long after you post it. No hot takes required, no engagement farming rewarded — just practitioners trading what works.
04
Communities, not crowds
Join small groups built around crafts — indie hacking, hardware, design systems, ML research, first-time founders. Open communities welcome everyone; approval-based ones stay focused. Start your own when the room you need doesn't exist yet.
05
Calm by design
Two topics are permanently off the menu: politics and religious debate. They're the two things that turn every builder's timeline into a battlefield, so we removed them entirely. Automated screening holds that line before posts reach the feed. What's left is room to think.
06
Your feed belongs to you
Follow the people you choose. Keep a private account if you prefer. There's no algorithmic firehose competing for your rage, no infinite scroll engineered against your evening. Messages go direct, presence shows who's around, notifications stay limited to things worth knowing.
07
The deal
A network is only as good as its worst week, so every member agrees to the same short list:
- No political arguments
- No religious arguments
- No harassment, hate, or threats
- No obscene or explicit content
- No weapons or dangerous-goods content
- No scams, spam, or fake engagement
Three violations and the account is gone — banned and deleted, permanently. The complete rules live in the Community Guidelines.
Stop watching other people build.
